TrueCar is an automotive pricing and information website & App for new and used car buyers. The service allows users to see what others paid for any new or used vehicle in their local area and receive upfront prices, but how do users know what is a good price or not?
TrueCar has always used a graph to help buyers understand what others paid, but the graph didn't really tell the user what was a good or fair price. In 2019 it was time for TrueCar to evolve its pricing system and reevaluate the role it can play in making car buying easier for its users and an industry that desperately needed it.
We kept the concept of a graph but pushed ourselves to turn the pricing data into useful information. We added interactivity to the graph, allowing us to organize information more efficiently, while letting users engage with the data in ways relevant to them. We also created a badging system that moved through the experience with the user. Providing the shopper with price context on every vehicle or offer they looked at.
